Breakfast TV host Ryan Jespersen does a great job interviewing two of our finalists in theTEC VenturePrize competition clip aired on CityTV Edmonton on the morning of Wed. April 4, 2012,  Dr. Dennis Filips of Innovative Trauma Care fame and Dr. Jason Acker of Aquila Diagnostics.

As the video shows, Dr. Filips had Ryan squirming a touch as he demonstrated how his wound-closing clamp works, even though it wasn't on skin. Dr. Acker was showing how nano-technology can provide thumbnail sized inexpensive media diagnostic tools that are portable and easy to use.

Aquila is a finalist in the Nano VenturePrize category, with the winner taking home $50,000 cash, the runner-up $25,000. In Innovative Trauma Care's Fast Growth category, $35,000 goes to the winner and $15,000 to the runner-up. The total prize money in the two categories plus the student competition is over $250,000.
