TEC Edmonton is pleased to welcome Jim Armstrong as an TEC Edmonton Executive In Residence, primarily assisting startup companies working in the IT sector.

While working on his Masters in Education at the University of Alberta, Jim began exploring other business opportunities and went on to be a entrepreneurial pioneer in the multi-media field.

He was the founder and CEO of Edmonton-based Mecca Media, which before being sold to Axia Netmedia Corporation in 2000, specialized in aerospace training, e-learning and 3D Animation. Mecca had 75 employees and annual revenues in excess of $5 million.

Jim worked as software production manager for Axia until starting his second company, MyClients.ca in 2003, a full-service email marketing business that was sold to one of the original partners four years later.

In 2004, Jim started Greenview Media Inc, and developed a process for creating, developing and hosting 3D animated flyovers for golf courses. The technology was acquired by Phoenix, Arizona - based Best Approach Publications. Jim became a partner in Best Approach, and continues to be Best Approach’s Chief Technology Officer.

“Now that Best Approach has a technology platform that is stable, efficient and productive, I am enjoying this opportunity at TEC Edmonton to again work with startup businesses and help them through their challenges,” says Jim.
