Technology Transfer:

  • Helps inventors transfer beneficial technologies to society through the private sector
  • Optimizes return on Intellectual Property (IP) to inventors and value to receptor firms through technology licensing or company creation
  • Processes include: Ownership due diligence; technology assessment and market research; IP protection (i.e. patenting); technology marketing; negotiating agreements; technology partnering through licensing of technology to a receptor company

VenturePrize:

  • Hosts $150,000 Business Plan Competition as incentive and reward for new technology entrepreneurs
  • Provides business planning seminar series and mentorship with experienced entrepreneurs to build viable new businesses, and feedback from financing professionals on all submitted business plans.

JumpStart:

  • Works with technology startup companies to define/refine business strategy, strengthen links to company-development resources, and improve access to experienced entrepreneurial and management talent, facilities and financing

TEC Source:

  • Offers qualified regional technology companies and entrepreneurs free, tailored advice to help grow their businesses, from an advisory panel of local professionals with experience in finance, accounting, taxation, intellectual property, corporate law, management, marketing and product development

TEC Student Entrepreneurship Program:

  • helps entrepreneurial students in post-secondary institutions such as the University of Alberta transform technological innovations into viable business opportunities
  • Recruits experienced senior managers from specific industries to provide free strategic guidance, business planning, and management stewardship to qualified early stage startup companies

Alberta Deal Generator:

  • Increases financing activity in early and growth-stage Alberta technology companies by helping firms become “investment ready” and facilitating forums where prepared entrepreneurs present their business opportunity to accredited angel and VC investors
