In 2005, TEC Edmonton joined forces with Calgary Technologies Inc. to create the Alberta Deal Generator, formalizing the unique services across the province and establishing a firm base in the two main centres of Calgary and Edmonton.
TEC Edmonton is a joint venture of the University of Alberta and Edmonton Economic Development formed in 2004. The not-for-profit organization provides access to unbiased expertise, resources and connections to help inventors, entrepreneurs and investors succeed in technology-based ventures. Programs include:
- Technology Transfer Program (for University of Alberta inventors)
- VenturePrize Program (Business Plan assistance and competition for Alberta-wide entrepreneurs)
- JumpStart Program (startup support for U of A spinoff companies)
- Alberta Deal Generator Program
- Research Transition Facility (flexible office and lab space for high-tech startup companies, R&D organizations and support agencies and professional service providers that help develop technology ventures)

Calgary Technologies Inc. is a not-for-profit joint partnership with the City of Calgary, the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and the University of Calgary, working with technology and life sciences companies and entrepreneurs to develop and expand their operations in Calgary. CTI provides technology incubation and commercialization services. Programs include:
