We invite you to compete in the next annual TEC VenturePrize business plan competition. There are two award categories – the Fast Growth category for general business, and the Student Business Plan category for post-secondary students.

Deadline for submission to the Fast Growth competition will be February 2011.

Fast Growth Award

• Grand Prize Winner receives over $80,000 in cash and in-kind services.
• Two Runners Up receive over $38,000 each in cash and in-kind services.

Who Can Participate

Entrants must be an individual, team, or company that has:
1. A viable, high-growth business concept
2. At least one person living, working or attending school in Alberta;
3. If entering as a new company, the company must be operational within one year;
4. If entering as an existing company, the majority of operations must occur in Alberta, have fewer than 20 full-time employees, have less than $1 million in annual revenue, and have less than $2 million in capitalization; and
5. Not previously received awards as a finalist in a Fast Growth VenturePrize Competition

TEC VenturePrize Student Business Plan Award

Supported by Ingenuity Enterprise and Western Economic Diversification Canada, the top three finalists from the Northern Competition and the top three finalists from the Southern (STIC) Competition share over $10,000 in cash and in-kind services.

These finalists (all six) compete for the TEC VenturePrize Student Business Competition.

• Grand Prize receives $6,000 in cash and in-kind services
• Two Runners Up receive $2,000 each in cash and in-kind services

Who Can Participate

Entrants must be a full-or part time post-secondary student or student team residing in Alberta that has:
1. A viable, high-growth business concept
2. Registered in either the Northern (CEFE) Competition or the Southern (STIC) Competition
3. Not previously received awards as a finalist in a Student VenturePrize Competition.
4. Those students who have previously placed in the top three of a previous VenturePrize Student Competition are eligible to compete during the following year in the Fast Growth Competition.
